Deuteronomy 7:2-5

2 and when the Lord your God turns them over to you and you ^{▼▼Lit strike}defeat them, ^byou shall ^{▼▼Or certainly devote to the ban}utterly destroy them. ^dYou shall not make a covenant with them ^enor be gracious to them. 3 Furthermore, ^fyou shall not intermarry with them: you shall not give your ^{▼▼Lit daughter}daughters to ^{▼▼Lit his son}their sons, nor shall you take ^{▼▼Lit his daughter}their daughters for your ^{▼▼Lit son}sons. 4 For ^{▼▼Lit he}they will turn your ^{▼▼Lit son}sons away from ^{▼▼Lit after}following Me, and they will serve other gods; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you and ⁿHe will quickly destroy you. 5 But this is what you shall do to them: ^oyou shall tear down their altars, smash their memorial stones, cut their ^{▼▼I.e., wooden symbols of a female deity (Asherah)}Asherim to pieces, and burn their carved images in the fire.
